Spreewerke cyq p38. The Walther P38 (originally written Walther P.38) is a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol that was developed by Carl Walther GmbH as the service pistol of the Wehrmacht at the beginning of World War II.It was intended to replace the costly Luger P08, the production of which was scheduled to end in 1942. Serial numbers of this variation always start with a 0, hence the name 0-Series. Determination of a 0-Series pistol is easy. The Walther banner and P38 model indication are stamped on the left side of the slide with the serial number next to it. Need help dating a Spreewerke P38. Guys, I have a cyq (Spreewerke) P38 pistol that I'd like to date. The serial number is 3341t. It's all matching except the magazine. Bore is excellent, bright and sharp. No import markings. Unfortunately it has been reblued. What year was it produced. The first-issue P38s in 1940 had serial numbers that ranged from 01 to 01000. However, 1943 models ranged from 1 to 9999n. Mauser and Spreewerke P38s changed their system from year to year, with each year being unique. To identify P38 serial numbers, reference a P38 serial number listing, such as the one found on the Ole' Army Joel.
