Yamaha Serial Number Database
Hi all: I am in Canada and am looking at a new Yamaha U1. I was very surprised to find that when looking up the serial number on the Yamaha USA look-up it came back as NOT made for North America though the tags on the piano say that it is. Has anyone else had this problem? I also wanted to figure out the date of manufacture and the tables on both Yamaha Canada and USA do not go past 2004.
I would like to make sure that this is at least 2010 or newer. Could anyone in USA or Canada give me a serial number (at least rounded to the nearest thousand) and rough date of purchase? Thanks in advance. Doug: 99% of used Yamahas you will find virtually everywhere are grey-market pianos. Many of these pianos are coming up in our B.C. Market right now used third time around - they're continually driving prices down. In my opinion these pianos are not the value they once perhaps were.
Looking for Yamaha ATV VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) Number Decoders? Once you find your ATV VIN number off the tag on your Yamaha ATV, you can go to all kinds of websites that have VIN Decoders available. How to download free music on a metropcs phone number. The best ones are backed by the Yamaha ATV manufacturer, however there are plenty of.
Dealers are continually complaining about getting barely their own cost out these days. The controversy about 'made or not made for North America' has been discussed here on many occasions, you can do a search. One caveat is that your area can be excessively dry - not a good loacation for the greys to endure without problems.
As one of the very few local dealers *not* dealing with these pianos, you need to watch the quality ratings of the stock dealers buy. These ratings are printed on offer forms to dealers before they actually buy these pianos The ratings vary between A,B,C + and - concerning separate but important components such as pinblock, pins, soundboard, case finish, hammers, strings etc Most dealers select pianos rated 'A' for looks - but don't care much about the ratings of the other components - an 'unnecessary' cost to them. It is my sincere conviction that in today's market you can get much better pianos for about same cost - 'new'. In fact it is the very reason why we have never bought into this [previously] highly lucrative market ourselves. Good luck - your money, Sir!
Hi Norbert: This should be a brand new piano and has the Yamaha tag saying that it was built for North America where as the Yamaha website says it was not built for here, which is the reason for my questions. Also I found another, unrelated post from 2008 regarding a U1 with a serial number higher than the new one. My understanding is that there is one set of contiguous serial numbers world-wide so this shouldn't be the case.
Thanks Doug Morgan Re: New Yamaha U1 serial number question. [] 10/13/11 09:40 PM 10/13/11 09:40 PM Joined: Dec 2009 Posts: 714. Doug, If you're buying a new yamaha from an authorized yamaha dealer there should be no problem. They should be able to tell you when it was made and address any rumors you've heard. Or you can call Yamaha directly.
